Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the United States from February 12 to 13, 2025, following an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump. This visit comes shortly after President Trump's inauguration for his second term. The two leaders are expected to engage in discussions aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United States.

Key agenda items:

Trade Relations:  The leaders will explore avenues to enhance bilateral trade, with a focus on addressing trade imbalances and promoting fair trading practices. The United States is India's largest trading partner, with two-way trade surpassing $118 billion in the 2023/24 period.
Defense Cooperation:  Discussions are anticipated on increasing India's procurement of American-made security equipment, thereby bolstering defense ties between the two nations.

Immigration Policies:

The meeting will address concerns related to immigration, especially in light of recent deportations of Indian nationals from the U.S. Both sides aim to find common ground on managing migration issues. This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their comprehensive global strategic partnership, focusing on mutual interests in trade, defense, and regional security.
