Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man, Nagesh Veeranna, who had taken part in a clinical trial conducted by Syngene International, was found dead at his brother's residence in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning.
According to Revanasiddappa, who is a driver by profession, Nagesh did not have any kind of health problems before he was enrolled in the clinical trial. However, after taking trial medicines in the form of tablets and injections, Nagesh started developing severe complications. In December 2024, he was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital after he developed severe stomach pain. Revanasiddappa, in his defense, says that during the incident, Syngene International called him and told him to rush to the hospital. Even at the end of discharge, Nagesh was still not getting well.

Early morning does not yield justice

On Tuesday night, the brothers had dinner and went to bed as usual. The next morning, Revanasiddappa found Nagesh unresponsive and immediately contacted a doctor associated with the clinical trial. The doctor advised him to take Nagesh to the same hospital where he had been treated previously. Upon arrival, hospital staff declared Nagesh dead. The Jalahalli Police have since opened an investigation into the events leading to Nagesh's death, filing a case of unnatural death.

We offer our condolences to the family and are cooperating fully with both the family and the investigating authorities," the statement said.
