Did missing snack trigger probe? Himachal’s CID denies Investigating Samosas for CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh News: The confusion started when some CID officials believed the snack boxes were not meant for the Chief Minister’s consumption. A woman officer overseeing the arrangements allegedly handed over the boxes to the MT section without verifying their contents.
Himachal Pradesh News: A peculiar controversy unfolded in Himachal Pradesh when samosas meant for an event attended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu went missing. The event, held at the CID headquarters, saw multiple boxes of snacks disappear, sparking allegations that a probe was underway by the CID to investigate the mystery of the missing samosas. However, top officials quickly denied this, calling it an internal matter that has been unfairly politicized.
CID Dismisses Claims of Official Investigation
Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha, Director General of Himachal Pradesh CID, clarified that there was no formal investigation ordered to track down the missing snacks. He stated, “The Chief Minister was our chief guest for a function. After the event, officers were gathered for tea, and someone casually inquired about what happened to the snacks. It was purely an internal matter, and it’s unfortunate that this minor issue has been sensationalized.” Ojha emphasized that the incident was merely an informal discussion among officers, not a probe.
Chief Minister’s Office and CID Label It an “Internal Matter”
The Chief Minister’s Office also distanced itself from the controversy. Naresh Chauhan, the Chief Media Advisor, stated, “The government did not order any such investigation, and it has nothing to do with this matter. The CID is handling it on their own.” He accused the opposition of using the incident to create baseless propaganda against the Congress government, stressing that the matter has been overblown.
Opposition BJP Criticizes Congress Over Missing Snacks
The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seized the opportunity to criticize the Congress-led government. BJP chief spokesperson Randhir Sharma mocked the focus on “the Chief Minister’s samosas” while accusing the Congress of ignoring the state’s development. “This incident has turned into a topic of ridicule, showing the lack of coordination in handling VVIP arrangements,” Sharma stated.
Confusion Surrounding the Snack Boxes
According to sources, the confusion started when some CID officials believed the snack boxes were not meant for the Chief Minister’s consumption. A woman officer overseeing the arrangements allegedly handed over the boxes to the MT section without verifying their contents. Later, these snacks were served to a group of 10-12 individuals in the Inspector General’s room on his orders. It was reported that only one officer knew the boxes contained samosas procured from Hotel Radisson, which were meant for the Chief Minister’s team.
Politics and Protocol Take Center Stage in Unusual Controversy
As the controversy gained traction, it became a talking point across political circles in Himachal Pradesh, with the BJP taking aim at the Congress government’s alleged mismanagement. Critics argue that such a minor coordination issue has needlessly escalated into a political dispute.
