Assam Earthquake: 6.4 magnitude strikes Assam, tremors felt across Northeast, North Bengal
Assam Earthquake: The National Center for Seismology reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 struck Assam's Morigaon district on Thursday morning. The surrounding districts were also affected.

Assam Earthquake: On February 27, a powerful earthquake struck the northeastern state of Assam, India. A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Morigaon district early Thursday morning, with tremors felt in Guwahati and other parts of the state.
National Centre for Seismology
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the strong tremors were recorded at 2:25 AM. The earthquake had a depth of 16 kilometers beneath the surface.The National System of Seismology reported that the 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred on February 27 at 2:25:40 AM at latitude 26.28°N and longitude 92.24°E, with a depth of 16 km, and it struck in Morigaon.
Earthquake Tremors Felt in Neighboring Countries
Assam frequently experiences earthquake tremors as it is one of India's seismic states. Although the earthquake occurred in Assam, its tremors were felt in neighboring countries like Bangladesh, China, and Bhutan. Reports suggest that the tremors were so strong that people woke up from their sleep and rushed outside. Sleeping individuals were completely shaken. However, no reports of casualties or damage have surfaced so far.
Earthquakes in the Bay of Bengal and Odisha
Earlier, on Tuesday, earthquake tremors were felt in West Bengal. The earthquake in the Bay of Bengal had a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale. The tremors were recorded at 6:10 AM on Tuesday morning. The depth of the earthquake was 91 kilometers underground. Not only in the Bay of Bengal, but an earthquake also struck Odisha.
India Meteorological Department
An official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told that the earthquake was recorded near Puri, Odisha. He stated that the earthquake tremor was recorded at 19.52° North latitude and 88.55° East longitude.
