Mahakumbh 2025: With just one day left until the highly anticipated Mahakumbh, the world's largest religious gathering, significant security measures are being implemented in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This sacred event, which occurs once every 12 years, is expected to draw over 450 million attendees.

Comprehensive Security Measures in Place

Uttar Pradesh's Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, has confirmed that extensive security protocols are in place for the Mahakumbh, which will take place from January 13 to February 26. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated a robust security framework to ensure the safety of participants and facilitate smooth access along critical routes connecting Prayagraj to surrounding areas.

Circular Security System

In accordance with the Chief Minister's directives, a circular security system featuring 102 checkpoints has been established along seven vital routes. This system is designed to facilitate thorough checks and frisking of vehicles and individuals entering the area. DGP Kumar emphasized the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh Police to ensure participant safety, deploying over 1,000 police personnel for this purpose.

Increased Personnel and Resources

To bolster security efforts, additional resources have been allocated. This includes 71 inspectors, 234 sub-inspectors, 645 constables, and 113 Home Guards/PRD (Prantiya Rakshak Dal) personnel actively monitoring the event. The deployment of five Vajra vehicles, ten drones, and four anti-sabotage teams will further enhance surveillance efforts around the clock.

Advanced Technology for Monitoring

The security strategy incorporates cutting-edge technology for comprehensive monitoring. Collaborating with the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), National Security Guard (NSG), and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), police have conducted mock drills to prepare for potential threats. Notably, a total of 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed throughout the Kumbh area, along with 113 underwater drones tasked with monitoring waterways.

Multi-Layered Security Framework

The Uttar Pradesh Police have introduced a multi-layered security system termed “impenetrable security chakravyuh” to protect key installations such as temples and akhadas. This strategic approach aims to provide maximum safety for all participants during this monumental event. As preparations reach their final stages, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to ensure that the Mahakumbh unfolds smoothly and securely for millions of devotees.
