Andhra Pradesh: A statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar erected at a village in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district was vandalised by some miscreants, police added. As soon as the incident set off widespread public anger and condemmation, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu instructed a detailed investigation into the damage done to the statue in the Nallajerla village.

Special police team has been established to investigate

Andhra Pradesh's seniormost policeman Harish Kumar Gupta informed Chief Minister Naidu about the incident while submitting a detailed report. Director General of Police (DGP) Gupta reassured the Chief Minister that a special police team had been established to investigate the incident and arrest the culprits.

Planned effort to generate communal tensions

He added that the incident seems to be a planned effort to generate communal tensions and the perpetrators will be dealt with sternly. DGP Gupta also cautioned that any moves to disturb peace and harmony in the state will be handled sternly.
