In a significant announcement, Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, confirmed that candidates from the INDIA bloc will be contesting the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh under the party's iconic 'cycle' symbol. On Thursday, Yadav stated, "We have decided to save 'Constitution, Reservation, Harmony.' We have to build the country of Bapu-Babasaheb-Lohia's dreams," emphasizing the alliance's commitment to these fundamental values.

A Unified Strategy for Victory

In a post on X, Yadav underlined that the focus is not merely on securing seats but on achieving a collective victory. "Under this strategy, the joint candidates of 'India Alliance' will contest on all nine seats using the Samajwadi Party's election symbol, the 'cycle.' Congress and the Samajwadi Party are united and standing shoulder to shoulder for a major win," he declared.

Congress leader Surendra Rajput echoed this sentiment, asserting that the primary objective of the alliance is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), rather than prioritizing the electoral symbol. "For us, the symbol is not important. The end of BJP's misgovernance is what matters," Rajput stated, adding that the alliance is committed to ensuring security, peace, and the protection of the Constitution.

Call for Unity and Cooperation

Akhilesh Yadav also urged voters to unite and ensure that votes are not divided. He highlighted the strengthened position of the Samajwadi Party, thanks to the backing of Congress leaders and grassroots workers. "Every worker of 'India Alliance' in all nine assembly seats has been filled with new energy with the resolve to win," he noted.

Yadav's appeal was clear: "Not even a single vote should be reduced, not even a single vote should be divided. This unity and solidarity of 'India Alliance' filled with harmony in the interest of the country will write new history today and tomorrow as well."

As of now, 15 candidates have filed their nominations in Uttar Pradesh for the by-elections, with the deadline for nominations set for October 25. The polling will occur on November 13, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
