Defense and Clarification
In her defense, the professor explained to university authorities that the ritual was part of a psycho-drama demonstration intended for her class. She asserted that there was no immoral intent behind the act and claimed that the videos were originally meant for internal documentation but were leaked with the intention of damaging the reputation of the Psychology Department.MAKAUT’s officiating vice-chancellor, Tapas Chakraborty, acknowledged her explanation but emphasized the necessity of addressing public concerns.
"She has clarified that it was an academic project and not meant for external circulation," he stated. "However, since the videos have gone viral and created a controversy, we have asked her to proceed on leave until the committee submits its report."
Inquiry Committee Formation
The inquiry committee comprises three female faculty members from various departments. Their investigation will determine whether the professor's actions were strictly academic or if further disciplinary measures are warranted.
