Language problem being exploited for political benefit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has charged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and his party with politicizing the language problem to derive political benefit and sidestep corruption allegations.

Hindi not a rival to regional languages

Making this announcement during a debate in the Rajya Sabha, Shah said Hindi is not a rival to local languages but a "friend" to all Indian languages. He denied charges of Hindi imposition and said it was paramount that linguistic diversity be maintained.

Modi Govt promotes Indian languages

Shah declared that he will talk to chief ministers, MPs, and citizens in their own languages from December onwards. The Modi administration has set up a new ministry of Indian Languages to give boost to all Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and Assamese.

Shah condemned the Tamil Nadu government for not offering medical and engineering courses in Tamil, assuring that the NDA government will do so when it comes to power in the state.
