World News: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has returned to Ukraine following a pivotal trip to the United States, where he engaged with American leaders crucial to shaping Ukraine's future in its ongoing struggle against Russia. The Biden administration reaffirmed its commitment, pledging over $8 billion in support for Ukraine, which guarantees military assistance until a new U.S. administration is established.

Navigating domestic politics

Zelenskyy faced a challenging political landscape upon his return. His visit to an ammunition factory in Pennsylvania sparked discontent among Republicans, leading House Speaker Mike Johnson to issue an open letter accusing him of partisan politics. Johnson demanded the dismissal of Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S., but Zelenskyy has not complied. Despite these hurdles, Zelenskyy met with both Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, successfully presenting his vision for victory and securing continued American support.

The quest for long-range weapons

Despite the assurances of aid, the Biden administration has drawn a line regarding long-range Western weapons capable of striking deep within Russia. Ukraine has lobbied for the lifting of these restrictions, believing such capabilities could significantly alter the war's dynamics. “The lifting of these informal restrictions will undoubtedly serve as a key indicator that decisive steps toward ending the war have been taken,” said presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak.

Anticipating future support

As Ukraine prepares for the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Zelenskyy’s leadership is focused on ensuring bipartisan support for his country’s military needs. “We just need to wait a little, as our partner countries are now holding internal discussions," Podolyak noted, emphasizing Ukraine's expectation of favorable responses regarding its victory plan. Zelenskyy expressed confidence in Ukraine’s path to victory, stating that all necessary resources are  "on the partner’s table," highlighting the importance of international commitment to Ukraine’s cause.
