In a significant move, former US President Donald Trump announced the appointment of radio talk show host and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino as the new Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  “Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel,” Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Bongino’s background and credentials

Bongino, a former NYPD officer, holds a master’s degree in psychology from C.U.N.Y. and an MBA from Penn State. He also served as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service before becoming a widely recognized conservative podcaster. Trump praised Bongino's dedication to the nation, noting that he is prepared to leave behind his highly successful podcasting career to take on this crucial role. “Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!" Trump added. Bongino expressed gratitude for the appointment, posting on X, "Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel."

Bongino to serve under FBI director Kash Patel

Bongino’s appointment comes shortly after Kash Patel took the oath as the FBI Director on February 22. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Indian Treaty Room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) on the White House campus. US Attorney General Pam Bondi administered the oath, instructing Patel to place his hand on the Gita while raising his right hand.

Kash Patel’s historic appointment

Following his swearing-in, Patel expressed deep appreciation for his journey, emphasizing the opportunities available in the United States. “I am living the American dream. Anyone who thinks the American dream is dead, just look right here. You're talking to a first-generation Indian kid who's about to lead the law enforcement community, the greatest nation on God's green earth. That can't happen anywhere else,” he stated.

Born in New York, Patel has Indian roots tracing back to Gujarat. His parents, originally from East Africa—his mother from Tanzania and his father from Uganda—immigrated to the US from Canada in 1970.
