Israel on high alert: Jews 'to be made extinct like dinosaurs' in THIS fanatical Muslim country

At one time, Jews were also part of Syria's identity. Earlier their number was in thousands but now it is only nominal. Most Syrian Jews have settled in Mexico. There was a time when cities like Damascus and Aleppo were centers of Jewish business, education and culture. Why did this happen?

Syria is one of the most difficult Muslim nations currently. But were you aware of the fact that there used to be thousands of Jews in the country? But today it so happens that as the dinosaurs turned out to be extinct, similarly the Jews became extinct in Syria. There is a problem in Israel about this also, as of the urge to understand what happened to the now successful Jewish populace, as to why they no longer exist in Syria?

The emigration started after the establishment of Israel

The history of Jewish communities in Syria dates back to the 4th century BC. Prior to World War I, there were approximately 40,000 Jews residing in cities like Aleppo and Damascus. Then, there was no serious issue living with Muslims. But everything changed in the 1940s when the process of becoming Israel started. When Israel became a nation in 1948, the life of Jews residing in Arab nations became disjointed. The Jewish population was perceived with distrust even in Syria. Initially, individuals departed the nation through Lebanon, then slowly thousands of Jews began to settle in nations such as Mexico, America and Argentina. In 1992, Hafiz al-Assad permitted some sort of exit, but it was too late.

How to travel from Damascus to Mexico?

It was a night of destiny in 1949, when a grenade attack on Damascus's Al-Manseh synagogue altered the Jewish community's fate forever. During the attack, 12 Jews were murdered and over 60 individuals were hurt. The Jews were compelled to vacate this place due to the attack. The majority of the youth who escaped Damascus arrived first in Israel. They entered Israel through the Golan Heights at night and found many of them merging into the IDF and beginning their new life. The reason was the apprehension of American authorities regarding infectious diseases.

Why did the Jews opt for Mexico?

Following the US denial, some Jewish families settled in Mexico. They first came to Veracruz, then Mexico City. Mexico was, at that time, regarded as an industrial center, where there were prospects of building a new life. Also, the Jewish community already established there welcomed the newcomers.

Syrian Jews of Aleppo and Damascus are separated

The Syrian Jews of Aleppo and Damascus are separated into two different communities, but yet they are connected to each other in festivals and marriages as well. The community has their own institutions, schools and more than 40 synagogues. The majority are religious or traditional and feel deep-rooted with Israel.

Where are the Syrian Jews?

Apart from Mexico and Israel, people also settled in New York, Argentina, Brazil, and Panama, some of whom settled in Israel after joining the Israeli army. Now, this community can be found everywhere in the world but is still maintaining its traditions and identity with pride.
