Starlink in Bangladesh? Elon Musk, Muhammad Yunus discuss potential rollout
Yunus stated that integrating Starlink's connectivity into Bangladesh's infrastructure would create new opportunities for millions and integrate the country more closely into the global economy
As of February 15, 2025, there have been no official reports or announcements regarding a meeting between Muhammad Yunus, the interim leader of Bangladesh, and Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, to discuss bringing Starlink internet services to Bangladesh.
Starlink's satellite internet in Bangladesh
However, efforts to introduce Starlink's satellite internet in Bangladesh have been underway since mid-2023. In July 2023, SpaceX representatives met with officials from Bangladesh's ICT Division and the Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) to express interest in launching Starlink services in the country. During these meetings, successful demonstrations showcased internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps. The government initiated a three-month pilot program to assess the feasibility of Starlink's services, particularly in remote and disaster-prone areas.

Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday said that he has discussed with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on a potential collaboration to launch Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh. Sharing a post on X on Saturday, the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh wrote, "Had great meeting with Mr @elonmusk. We agreed to work together. Hoping to launch Starlink in Bangladesh soon together with him."
