Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has been elected as the new speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly. Current Speaker, Raja Pervez Ashraf, administered him the oath of office and secrecy. After taking the oath, Sadiq thanked all the members present in the House and urged the ruling and opposition parties to run the government together and work for the betterment of the country.

According to the report, current Speaker Raja Parvez said that a total of 291 votes were cast for the election of the new Speaker. Sadiq got 199 votes. At the same time, his rival Amir Dogar, got only 91 votes. After winning the election, Sadiq went to meet Amir Dogar at his seat and shook hands with him. During this, he also had a light conversation with many opposition leaders.

After taking the oath, Sadiq said that everyone will have to work together for the progress of the country. He said that pros and cons are the two wheels of a car, which are necessary for balance. He said that differences between the government and the opposition are necessary; these differences should not be personal but for the betterment and progress of the country.

Then the results would have been different...

PTI-backed Parliament Speaker candidate Malik Amir Dogar targeted the rigging in the elections. Congratulating Sadiq, Dogar said that if the results had come as per Form 45, my votes today would have been 225. He claimed that till this morning, the 91 members who voted for me were under severe pressure, but still they decided to vote for me.
