The White House has come out in support of Israel's latest air and land attacks on Gaza, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that President Donald Trump "supports fully" the nation's military campaign.

Hamas under fire for taking hostages

Leavitt credited Hamas with violence, saying the president had advised the group to make it well understood that the hostages would suffer greatly if it failed to liberate all hostages. "Sadly, Hamas made the choice to play games with lives in the media," she further stated. 

Gaza death toll mounts

The Gaza civil defense leadership announced an astounding 504 fatalities from the Israeli shelling, including more than 190 children. The number of casualties is likely to increase as the fighting intensifies.

Israel restarts air campaign

Israel resumed air strikes on Tuesday, ending a short pause in the fighting. The action came after Hamas said it had fired rockets at Tel Aviv in retaliation for the increasing number of civilian casualties.

Ground war escalates

Israel has closed the main north-south highway across the territory as soldiers expand the ground war. Conditions on the ground are bleak, with civilians caught in the crossfire.
