World News: The audacious plan by former President Donald Trump to acquire Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal has caused a firestorm of reaction from Canadian political figures. No time was wasted by Canadian MP Jagmeet Singh in response, warning that dire consequences may arise because of Trump's words.

Trump's Controversial Comments about Canada

Donald Trump, through X, posted that Canada should absorb into the United States. He even claimed that now it would offer an opportunity for becoming the 51st state, eliciting a mixed reaction—particularly from many of the leadership and citizens within Canada.

Response: Jagmeet Singh Reacts with Defiance

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh launched a scathing attack in a video on the comments, dismissing Trump's ideas with his usual ferocity. Singh advised Trump that any attempt to "pick a fight" with Canada would bring huge consequences for him. "This is not for sale, not now and not ever," Singh said, adding emphasis to his words.

Singh emphasized the Canadian spirit by saying that one is united in defending sovereignty. From personal experience, he is proud of the resilience of the citizens of Canada, who stand together, especially during adversity such as recent forest fires.

Retaliation Through Tariffs: A Possible Response

In addition to the strong words, Singh proposed that Canada retaliate against Trump's policies with tariffs, especially if the former president imposes levies on Canadian goods. His stance is clear: Canada will not back down.

He has also repeatedly claimed that many Canadians secretly wish for Canada to become part of the U.S. and even referred to Canada's substantial financial aid as evidence of this desire. The threat he issued to impose tariffs unless Canada cracks down on illegal immigration also added fuel to the fire.
