New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has entered into an agreement with India, establishing a framework for collaboration in the operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants in the Gulf nation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), and Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC).
This important agreement took place during Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to India, where he held bilateral discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The MoU is a step towards enhancing cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy between the two nations.
Strategic nuclear collaboration
The MoU outlines a broad framework for cooperation between NPCIL and ENEC, focusing on areas such as supply chain development, sharing operational experiences, and providing services for nuclear energy plant operation and maintenance. Additionally, the agreement covers nuclear consulting services, human resources development, research, and training, according to an official NPCIL statement.
