World News: The IDF confirmed the killing of key Hamas leaders involved in attacks against Israel amid escalating violence and significant civilian casualties in Gaza.
World News: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently announced the elimination of Hamas' Nukhba Platoon commander, Abd al-Hadi Sabah, during a drone strike. This operation took place in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, where Sabah was reportedly involved in orchestrating the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz during the tragic events of October 7, 2023. The IDF stated, "Abd al-Hadi Sabah, a Nukhba Platoon Commander in the Western Khan Yunis Battalion was eliminated in an intelligence-based IDF and ISA strike."
Significant Target in Gaza
The IDF highlighted that Sabah operated from a shelter located in a designated humanitarian area within Khan Younis. He was a key figure in the infiltration into Kibbutz Nir Oz during the deadly massacre on October 7. Furthermore, he played a significant role in leading numerous terrorist attacks against IDF forces throughout the ongoing conflict. The IDF reiterated its commitment to continue targeting all individuals involved in the October 7 massacre.
In addition to this operation, earlier on the same day, the IDF confirmed the death of Anas Muhammad Saadi Masri, who commanded the northern sector of the rocket unit for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Masri was described as a pivotal figure responsible for executing multiple terrorist operations aimed at Israeli civilians and soldiers. His leadership included overseeing rocket fire directed at Israeli border communities from northern Gaza.
Ongoing Military Operations
Since October 7, Masri had been actively coordinating rocket attacks against Israel and managing operatives responsible for launching these assaults. The IDF reported that its units, collaborating with Shin Bet (Israel's internal security service), had eliminated 14 Hamas terrorists, six of whom were directly involved in the October 7 massacre.
These operations were part of the ongoing activities of the IDF's 162nd "Steel" Division within Gaza. The division has been engaged in operations across Jabalia and Beit Lahia, focusing on locating and neutralizing terrorists linked to the October 7 attack. This assault by Hamas resulted in over 1,200 fatalities and more than 250 hostages taken. Currently, around 100 hostages remain unaccounted for, with many feared dead.
Escalating Conflict and Civilian Toll
In response to Hamas's actions, Israel has launched extensive military operations targeting Hamas units within Gaza. However, these operations have led to an alarming civilian toll exceeding 45,000 Palestinian casualties. This rising number has sparked global concerns and intensified calls for a ceasefire. The conflict has escalated further as Houthi rebels from Yemen and Hezbollah from Lebanon have increased their offensives against Israel, forcing Tel Aviv into a multi-front war.
