China Tests Non Nuclear Blowtorch bomb Generates Fireball: A new and very dangerous technology has been tested by China. The weapon is not nuclear, but its destructive power is reported to be far greater than that of any regular bomb. The new explosive device utilizes hydrogen fuel, which creates more rapid and longer-lasting fireballs like those of a blowtorch.

A two-second fire

The fireball created by this new bomb lasted for over two seconds, equivalent to 15 times more than the TNT explosion of the same capacity. The temperature went up to approximately 1,000 degrees Celsius in this duration, without using any nuclear material in it.

Application of magnesium-based technology

This weapon has been designed by the 705 Research Institute of China's State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). It employs a solid material known as magnesium hydride, which releases hydrogen gas triggered by a normal explosion. This gas generates high heat and fire.

Military transformation of clean energy technology

This technology, as per the report, was initially created to supply gas and power to a place where there is no electricity plant. But its use in the military is also being investigated now. Scientists have labeled it as a "power that destroys equally large areas".

Strength and destruction of the blast

This blowtorch bomb took a blast force similar to TNT up to 40 percent, but its thermal damage zone was much greater. This implies that although this bomb explodes less, its heat damage is significantly greater.

More debate on use by the military

It is not yet known how China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) will employ this technology, but it is certain that this weapon has the potential to alter the style of warfare in the future. It can be employed to spread heat over vast areas or to precisely destroy particular targets.
