Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni delivered a fiery speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington DC, tearing into what she called the "global leftist liberal network." She accused left-leaning elites of hypocrisy, arguing that while leaders like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were hailed as "statesmen," figures like Trump, Modi, and Milei are branded as threats. Her remarks electrified the conservative audience, reaffirming her stance as a rising force in global right-wing politics.

The Left's Hysteria is uncontrollable

Standing alongside US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Meloni declared that the global Left is growing increasingly desperate as conservative leaders gain power. "With Trump’s victory, their irritation has turned into hysteria—not just because we are winning, but because we are collaborating globally," she said, drawing thunderous applause.

She pointed out that leaders like herself, Trump, and Argentina’s President Javier Milei are vilified not for their policies but for challenging the establishment. "When Trump, Meloni, Milei, or maybe Modi talk, we are called a threat to democracy. But when Clinton and Blair built their liberal network, they were called visionaries," she argued.

A call for conservative unity

Meloni emphasized that despite relentless criticism from the Left, right-wing leaders continue to secure electoral victories. "The good news is people no longer believe in their lies. Despite all the mud they throw at us, citizens keep voting for us," she declared.

Listing the core values of the conservative movement, she asserted:

  • "We defend freedom."
  • "We love our nations and protect our borders."
  • "We stand against wokeism and for family values."
  • "We protect our sacred right to faith and free speech."

Trump-Meloni alliance raises European concerns

Meloni’s strong ties with Trump have raised concerns in the European Union, particularly over Trump's diplomatic approach toward Russia and NATO. With Trump openly questioning US military commitments to Europe, Meloni’s speech signaled potential fractures within Western alliances. Despite these concerns, Meloni remains steadfast in her alliance with Trump, positioning herself as Europe’s leading right-wing voice. "Our struggle is hard, but the choice is simple," she concluded, vowing to continue pushing against what she sees as the Left’s dominance over global politics.

Final word:

With CPAC 2025 setting the stage for a global conservative resurgence, Meloni’s bold rhetoric underscores a shift in power dynamics. As Trump gears up for another term, and with nationalist leaders rising worldwide, the battle between conservative populism and liberal globalism is set to intensify.
