Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, known for her roles in the 1990s, recently embraced a spiritual path by joining the Kinnar Akhara, a religious order associated with the transgender community. She was anointed as a Mahamandaleshwar, adopting the spiritual name "Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri." This initiation took place during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where she performed rituals such as 'Pind Daan' at the Sangam Ghat.

However, shortly after her induction, internal conflicts within the Kinnar Akhara led to her expulsion. The founder of the Akhara, Rishi Ajay Das, announced the removal of both Mamta Kulkarni and her guru, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, citing concerns over Kulkarni's past associations and the manner of her appointment.

  Dedication to spirituality

In response to these events, Mamta Kulkarni has maintained her commitment to her spiritual journey. She has denied allegations of financial impropriety related to her appointment, clarifying that her bank accounts have been frozen and that she had to borrow funds for her initiation rituals. Kulkarni emphasized her dedication to spirituality, stating that she has been practicing penance since 2000 and intends to continue on this path regardless of her official position within any religious order.

Dharma transcends

Despite the controversies surrounding her appointment and subsequent expulsion, Mamta Kulkarni remains resolute in her spiritual pursuits, expressing that her commitment to asceticism and Sanatan Dharma transcends organizational affiliations.
