In a recent episode of the comedy show India's Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, made a shocking comment that sparked outrage. Allahbadia, who has previously hosted politicians on his podcast and even received accolades from PM Modi, asked a contestant an inappropriate and crass question, "would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or join them once and put a stop to it?"

The awkward question left both the contestant and fellow judge, comedian Samay Raina, visibly stunned. Raina even responded with, "What the f***?" However, the moment quickly gained attention on social media, igniting widespread backlash for its disturbing nature.

Gaurav Taneja responds to the backlash

Amid the growing criticism, YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, known as FlyingBeast, joined the conversation and made his displeasure known. Taneja, commenting on the controversy, posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Lagta hai Samay Raina poore YoutubeIndia ko cancel karwa ke hi maanega." His remark implied that Raina, as a judge on the show, seemed intent on "cancelling" the entire YouTube community with such questionable content.

Taneja’s comments reflect frustration over the negative attention YouTube personalities have received due to the incident. He also indicated his concern for how this controversy could affect the YouTube space at large.

 Legal action and public outcry

Following the joke, a complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid), and the organizers of India's Got Latent for the use of abusive and inappropriate language. Social media users have heavily criticized the show, calling for it to be shut down and action to be taken against the participants. Many have expressed their dissatisfaction with the show’s content, which has previously been labeled as misogynistic and insensitive.

A rising trend of criticism

This isn't the first time India's Got Latent has faced criticism for controversial content. The show, which often involves roasting contestants, has previously been called out for its inappropriate humor. The latest incident has intensified public calls to reevaluate the content shown to audiences, particularly given its impact on younger viewers who follow social media influencers and comedians.

A call for accountability

As more voices join the debate, the incident has raised questions about accountability in online content creation. Critics argue that while comedy and roasting can be a form of entertainment, crossing boundaries with offensive or disturbing jokes can do more harm than good. Public figures like Gaurav Taneja have called for a more responsible approach to comedy in mainstream digital content.
