Markets in green: IndusInd, ICICI, HDFC lead as Sensex, Nifty climbs higher

Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, on the back of good global cues. IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, M&M, Adani Porta and HDFC Bank were among the major gainers in early trade. IndusInd Bank added 1.42 per cent. Earlier, GIFT Nifty, an opening pointer for equity market indices, indicated a flat opening for the Nifty 50.

Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, on the back of good global cues. IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, M&M, Adani Porta and HDFC Bank were among the major gainers in early trade. IndusInd Bank added 1.42 per cent. Earlier, GIFT Nifty, an opening pointer for equity market indices, indicated a flat opening for the Nifty 50. Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, on the back of positive overseas cues. The BSE Sensex is currently at 74,964.94, and the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 22,727.65. The Nifty 50 rose by 230.05 points or 1.04 per cent. In Monday's final trading session, the Sensex at 74,169.95 and the Nifty 50 closed at 22,508.75.

These stocks experienced a boom  

IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, M&M, Adani Porta and HDFC Bank were the leaders of the day in early trade. IndusInd Bank appreciated 1.42 per cent. Meanwhile, just two stocks were in the red mark in early trading - Sun Pharma and Nestle India. In early trade, 2,038 stocks from the Nifty pack traded in advance, and 359 stocks were in advance. Forty-four shares were in the same level. 

What does GIFT Nifty show?

Earlier, GIFT Nifty, a leading indicator for equity market indices, indicated a flat opening for the Nifty 50, which opened at 22,736.50, down marginally from its last close of 22,741 on Monday.

Asian and Global Mmarkets today

Meanwhile, Asian markets were in the green today as there was a rally in the US stock market on Monday. The S&P 500 rose 0.6 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 353 points, or 0.9 percent. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.3 percent.

How did the various sectors fare?

The large Nifty sectoral indices are currently trading in the positive mark in initial trade. In a similar way, the Nifty Bank index went up by 0.61 per cent and Nifty Realty increased 0.87 per cent.
